      December 16, 2017

The Capital is marking Bahrain National Day and the anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to power. As part of celebrations, skyscrapers across Abu Dhabi, including Al Maryah Island and IPIC Square on Muroor road are all lit in Bahrain national colours. The celebration adds to the festive mood the Capital is witnessing for past few weeks.

The Abu Dhabi International Airport is decked in the national flag of Bahrain. The airport welcomed a flight of Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, with a traditional water salute. Bahrain's National Anthem and other national songs are being played across all terminals through this weekend to welcome arriving and departing passengers.

Also, dances paying tribute to Bahrain, its leadership and citizens are being performed. Abu Dhabi Airports chief executive officer Abdul Majeed Al Khoori said such activities are held to further strengthen bilateral relations.

"Abu Dhabi Airports is proud to celebrate the National Day of Bahrain at the Abu Dhabi International Airport. We hope it will demonstrate the unity and fondness between both people. In addition, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain have very close ties when it comes to aviation, and therefore, the Capital's airport is the ideal venue to reflect such a close relationship," Al Khoori said.

Etihad Airways is offering special fares with up to 10 per cent discount on its flights from Bahrain to 46 destinations, including those in the Indian subcontinent, the UK and the US. The limited-period discounts are available on bookings made till Sunday with travel period between January 7 and March 31, 2018.
