Dubai: Downtown Dubai’s New Year’s Eve festivities, which will feature a light show at the world’s tallest tower, are set to be streamed live on social media, it was announced on Wednesday.
Emaar Properties and Twitter confirmed that they have tied up to live-stream the New Year’s Eve festivities in Burj Khalifa to a global Twitter audience for the second consecutive year.
The live coverage of the visual extravaganza, Emaar’s attempt to land in the Guinness World Records 2018, will air on New Year’s Eve, from Downtown Dubai at 11:30 pm GST/2:30 pm EST on the 31st of December and will be available worldwide.
The New Year’s Eve celebrations in Downtown Dubai is one of the most-anticipated events of the year, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators.
This year’s festivities, however, will be a bit different, with Emaar hinting that the traditional fireworks display will be replaced with a laser light show.
Final preparations for the visual extravaganza are now underway, with hundreds of skilled professionals working round-the-clock to ensure the festivities will be memorable.
The live stream will also be accompanied by a Twitter timeline, featuring the New Year’s Eve related real-time conversation.
In order to help viewers throughout the event, Emaar will also launch a Twitter Direct Message (DM) facility. “Once people send a Direct Message via Twitter to @MyDowntownDubai, they will be directed to a series of automated steps to easily learn more about what’s happening around the festivities,” Emaar said.
“The DM experience will provide information that will range from the day-by-day New Year activity schedule and a selection of recommended hotels for tourists prior to the celebrations, to FAQ’s for those heading to the viewing locations in Downtown Dubai on New Year’s Eve.”
Emaar’s “Light Up 2018” spectacle will also feature choreographed music and “water-music performances” at the Dubai Fountain.
