Qatar open to talks, but must do more to mend its ways

Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said his country was open to negotiations to resolve the ongoing crisis with Arab countries over its links to terrorism. The followed amendments to the anti-terror law in the country which the UAE called a positive step to resolve the dispute that saw the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other countries cutting off all ties with Doha.

Under the new decree, Qatar established two nominal lists of individuals and terror entities. It also defined terrorist crimes, entities as well as those financing terror groups.

"It is a positive step to deal seriously with the list of 59 terrorists," Anwar Gargash said in a tweet. "The pressure linked to the crisis has begun to bear fruit." But Gargash, repeated his demands for Qatar to reorient its policies in order to ease the crisis with its Arab neighbours.

"It would be wiser (for Qatar) to totally change its (political) orientation," he said.
