      December 2, 2017

In the spirit of the UAE National Day, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has directed the Ministry of Interior to coordinate with all traffic and licensing departments across the country to reduce by 50 percent all traffic and impoundment fines nationwide.

The reduction will be on fines incurred from December 2nd 2017 and backwards, with the discounted fines to be paid within three months starting from the date of issuing the directives, after which the full value of the fines shall be charged.

According the directives, motorists are strongly advised to comply with traffic rules and regulations and ensure safety of life and property.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince made the announcement earlier on his Twitter page, @MohamedBinZayed. In a tweet, he said that he ordered the Ministry of Interior to coordinate with traffic departments to implement the discount countrywide.

Sheikh Mohamed's announcement comes after the Abu Dhabi Police announced a 50 per cent discount on all traffic fines in the Capital. Abu Dhabi residents can benefit from this discount by paying the fines in the next 60 days, starting from December 2 (Saturday).

The Ministry of Interior has retweeted Sheikh Mohamed's announcement. However, no date has been specified for the discount yet.
